How do orthotics work?
Orthotic inserts allow the feet and lower limbs to function at their optimum potential and biomechanically ‘normal’. Orthotics can decrease pain, alleviate pressure, and increase stability in an unstable joint. In addition, orthotics are used to treat specific pathologies such as plantar fasciitis, bunions, Shin splints, Achilles heel pain, knee and much more.
What is included in the assessment and how much does it cost?
The initial assessment is £50 for a 30 minute session.
You will be given a full biomechanical assessment with a fully trained member of staff. We will examine the alignment of your feet, knees and hips and right up to your head, explain in detail any biomechanical imbalances occurring, discuss with you any conditions or pain this could be causing you and the options available to alleviate your discomfort with our specifically designed orthotics.
How much do orthotics cost?
Our orthotics are individually, fully custom and made exactly to your requirements. Approximately they vary from £200 - £500. Until we see youand your feet, discuss your requirements, we will not be able to give an accurate price however the initial consultation is free of charge, so it costs nothing to attend and be assessed.
How long does it take for orthotics to work?
This is really patient and ailment specific. Lots of our patients feel the immediate relief while some can take time to adapt. We are all unique and each case is very individual, but we are only a call or email away to discuss your personal case. If at any time you are concerned or just want reassurance, our staff will be more than happy to see you for an aftercare appointment as our priority is to ensure we help you.
How many times will I need to come and see you?
Usually only the once however again, each individual is different. We can assess you and take your scans the same day if you wish. However, we are here to give you all the information to get you out of pain, if you prefer to go away and think it over, discus with your husband / wife, mum/ dadfor example then we can arrange for you to come back for a separate scan appointment no problem. Lots of our patients are usually undergoing treatment anyway so we can tie this in with a treatment session.
Once you receive the orthotics, you may wish to arrange a follow up appointment after a few months to see how you are getting on or talk over any concerns, this can be arranged.
What if orthotics are not suitable for me?
We have a distinct advantage of working alongside a lab with years and years of experience with some of the leading names in the field. We also have the advantage of being a multidiscipline clinic and working with some of the best consultants in the area so if your condition cannot be helped with orthotics but would benefit from general physiotherapy, massage therapy, soft tissue therapy or even surgery, then we can direct you to a clinic or hospital that will be able to assist you further.
