Everybody that comes through the doors at Faye Pattison is different. Every ache and pain that we hear about manifests itself in different ways, every client is facing their own challenges, and the way we deal with physical ailments varies across every individual we meet.
Of course, what this means is that every client responds differently to different treatment plans – some favouring the physical side of physiotherapy and movement, while others find the rituals of acupuncture and dry needling to be more beneficial.
Of all the treatments that we offer, dry needle therapy is often the least widely known – which is why we wanted to make it the focus point of this article. Keep reading to find out more…
What is Dry Needle Therapy?
Dry needle therapy is, by definition, an incredibly simple procedure that is carried out by fully trained therapists. It involves the use of small and very shape needles, that are inserted into specific trigger points and muscles in the body, all in hopes of alleviating tension and reducing pain.
The name ‘dry needling’ derives from the fact that this therapy does not involve any kind of solution inserted through the needles. Rather, it’s the physical presence of the needles that does all the hard work.
Links Between Dry Needling and Pain Relief
Wondering how minute needles can get to the heart of your internal aches and pains?
Well, it all comes down to how and where those needles are inserted – and it’s this that makes dry needling such a specialist skill in the world of physiotherapy. Being able to translate a client’s aches and pains, identify the right trigger points, and activate healing through the insertion of needles at the right points, is at the centre of this treatment option.
With the needles being so small, accuracy is everything – ensuring that the correct muscles are targeted and that the placement of the needles facilitates a positive flow of healing.
Once inserted, the needles relax knots in the muscles and ease pain that is being caused by a build-up of tension and stiffness. Our team recognise that aches and pains can cause clients to move less, subsequently developing increased stiffness around the joints and muscles. Our aim is to target pain at its source, activating natural relief and leaving our clients feeling more mobile.
Is Dry Needling Right For You?
With all that said, is dry needle therapy a good option for you?
If you’re seeking a form of treatment that combines physical relief with alternative methods and feel that the root cause of your aches and pains lies in your muscles, then dry needling is a sustainable option to try. At Faye Pattison, we always invite our clients to a full consultation in advance of treatment, working to understand and identify the cause of your physical ailments and how best we can target the issues.
